The Final Chapter
We are thrilled to share the exciting highlights of "The Hunger Maze" from its recent participation in the MOJO game showcase. This event provided us with a valuable platform to showcase our game and gather feedback from players and industry professionals alike. The response we received during the showcase reaffirmed our belief in the game's potential and ignited our passion for its continued development. In this devlog, we will delve into the feedback we received and discuss the impact it has had on our plans for the future of "The Hunger Maze."
Players at the MOJO showcase were immediately drawn to the unique concept of our game and thoroughly enjoyed their experience. The cooperative gameplay and engaging mechanics resonated well with the attendees, highlighting the strength of our design choices and our commitment to delivering an enjoyable experience.
While graphics were mentioned as an area for improvement, we are pleased to report that it was not a major concern for the players. They were captivated by the gameplay mechanics and the cooperative elements, recognizing them as the game's core strengths. This feedback has reinforced our belief in the power of our game's concept and mechanics to create an immersive and entertaining experience for players.
One of the key takeaways from the showcase was the importance of providing players with clear information and feedback. Based on the feedback we received, we plan to implement changes such as making the food inventory visible to players, allowing them to keep track of the types of food they have collected. We also intend to display the characters' weight throughout the game, providing a tangible sense of progress and goal attainment. These enhancements will further engage players and provide them with a more satisfying gameplay experience.
Additionally, we received valuable insights on optimizing the food mechanics. Through careful analysis of the playtesting data gathered during the showcase, we have identified areas where adjustments can be made to improve balance and overall enjoyment. We are excited to refine existing levels and design new ones that challenge players while ensuring a rewarding experience.
As we move forward, we are eager to dedicate more time and attention to enhancing the graphics of "The Hunger Maze." We understand the significance of visual appeal in creating an immersive gaming experience, and we are committed to delivering captivating visuals that align seamlessly with the unique concept of the game.
Report from the last week:
Ondrej Hi, I worked on the game code and redesigned the last, most difficult level. Additionally, I implemented in-game monitoring of desired variables. After completing MOJO, I collaborated with João on the Playtesting report, where I processed the variables. In the end, I created videos showcasing our game.
João Hi! I designed the second level and added initial frames. I also wrote the questions for the MOJO and prepared the google forms for the players to give feedback. After MOJO I colaborated with Ondrej on the Playtesting report.
Tereza Hello, last week I worked on finishing the prototype for MOJO, including recreating the introductory level. Additionally, I created the control sheet. After completing MOJO, I wrote the Postmortem report.
The MOJO showcase was a pivotal event that has further fueled our passion for "The Hunger Maze." The positive reception and constructive criticism have propelled us to refine and enhance the game, ensuring that it becomes an exceptional and unforgettable experience for players.
Thank you for joining us on this exhilarating journey, and stay tuned for more updates as we continue to shape the future of "The Hunger Maze"!
